Naro Pinosa: Meta Collage Art

Collage art, as provocative as it is captivating.

Naro Pinosa creates his controversial pieces by sourcing images from pornography, fashion photorpahy, religious iconography and popular culture.

Hannah's comments: My favourite thing about collage art is that it is the creation of something completely new. The birth of a story that has not been seen before. So when I came across Naro Pinosa, I was heavily drawn to the amount of sexuality his work exhibits. The mixture of nude bodies, with whimsical touches of humour, make his pieces so incredibly beautiful and entertaining to look over.

"I started making collages a couple of years ago. It was just a distraction, a way to kill time, like a cross word puzzle or sudoku. It’s a combinations thing. The images or concepts are from disparate universes, but they are similar. The conventional is boring. And sex is fascinating." - Naro Pinosa via Beautiful Savage.

Nour's comments: This Spanish collage artist was selected for his ability to make an unremarkable form of creating visual content, known as Collage Art, both minimal and enthralling. He uses two images, one placed strategically on top of the other, filtering down an otherwise complex process to create pieces that spark a sort of satirical curiosity.

Collage is the noble conquest of the irrational, the coupling of two realities, irreconcilable in appearance.
