CLUB KIDS

A Project in Collaboration with

Bardo Clubhouse

  "Be my person ..."

"Be my person ..."

Creatives from all walks of life gathered in The Garden area chatting about art, design, fashion, music and literature. There were drinks, food, and the grainy sounds of vinyls churning away, echoing off of the open spaces and painted walls.

  "Relax."

"Relax."

The interior features a mini coffee bar, a vintage thrift shop, antique furniture, record players, a yoga wing, a recording studio, and The Vanished Library.

I walked into Bardo Clubhouse on the evening of their house warming party, to an endless array of string lights wrapped around a quaint little estate in Maadi.

"Red is the color of fear and love. It's the color of sacrifice."

"Red is the color of fear and love. It's the color of sacrifice."

Bardo is a curated urban clubhouse that serves mainly the eclectic Maadi community. It is a space that hosts movement and expression classes, art and design courses, acting and yoga classes, musical events, and culture and film evenings.

  "Swoosh."

"Swoosh."

  "Leave your comments below."

"Leave your comments below."

Each room is given a name, theme and purpose. The Game Room, The Living Room, The Yoga Studio ... the “Gender Neutral” bathrooms make a statement.

Bardo struck me as a first here in Cairo, a thoughtfully put together space where creative youth in our city can go to work, read, meditate, practice yoga, learn something about music or acting, or just simply hang out.

  "Take a bow."

"Take a bow."

  "I built this."

"I built this."

  "This is your moment."

"This is your moment."

CLUB KIDS is a Radical project in collaboration with Bardo Clubhouse. It is a visual representation of the people you find gathered at this space, wearing local brands and creating art.

The models are not models at all, but friends of the magazine. The clothes worn are a combination of antique garments, and couture pieces, paired with vintage sunglasses and carefully selected jewelry from local designers.

Kojak Studio, VNTG sunglasses, SOLD, and Jude Benhalim were some of the brands featured in this editorial. Special thanks to Natasha Padhan, Interior Designer, Brownbook writer and friend.

  "Listen closely."

"Listen closely."

  "... a cigarette?"

"... a cigarette?"

"Would you like some coffee ...?"

"Would you like some coffee ...?"

  "Bar closes at 10. Goodnight."

"Bar closes at 10. Goodnight."

And in that moment, I swear, we were infinite ...
